Best Practices for Maintaining Diesel Engine Fuel Injectors

Hi everyone,

I’ve been driving a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia with a Detroit Diesel DD15 engine, and I’m trying to make sure I properly maintain the fuel injectors to avoid costly repairs down the road. I know diesel injectors are sensitive and can get clogged if fuel quality isn’t great, but I’m a bit unclear on the best routine for cleaning or servicing them.

Should I be using fuel additives regularly, or is it better to have a professional cleaning service at certain mileage intervals? Also, are there any signs that indicate the injectors are starting to fail before things get serious? Any advice or personal experiences would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!
