It searches for loads from B to any point within a 150-mile radius of the origin (A), but also for loads that continue a profitable chain (B $\rightarrow$ C) where C is a strong market for a final leg (C $\rightarrow$ A). This is where the iterative querying gets complex.
- Data Scoring for Profitability: We assign a Profitability Score to the entire route chain (A $\rightarrow$ B $\rightarrow$ A or A $\rightarrow$ B $\rightarrow$ C $\rightarrow$ A), not just the individual segments. This score incorporates:
Segment 1 RPM
Segment 2 RPM
Total Estimated Deadhead Miles (normalized to the total trip distance)
Market Trend Risk Factor (The chance the backhaul rate might drop before booking)
This approach requires multiple, fast-fire queries to the Load Search API and then computationally intense filtering on our end. It really pushes the envelope of how many API calls we make per user session, but the ROI on reduced empty miles is enormous.
